Its not long now until one of the highlights of the year for St Ives Methodist Church. Yes, that’s right its our Christmas Eve Nativity for Children. This year we are being told the amazing Christmas story from the perspective of the animals who first saw the baby Jesus with special help of an angel and a donkey. The church will be transformed from straight rows of chair to a stable full of straw bales and crafts for the children.

The nativity starts at 4pm, it will last for about an hour and is absolutely free! If you need for information please email or call 01480 462293

We can’t wait to see you and start your Christmas celebrations.

Seeing as we are in Advent and Christmas is coming we will be making christingles this month cafe service to help remember the message of hope Christmas brings. If you don’t know what a christingle is then don’t worry there are probably plenty of other people who don’t know either. But we promise you will find out on Sunday and really enjoy making them out of an orange, a candle, some ribbon and some sweets!

As well as the Christingles there we will be the usual bits of singing some songs, chatting together and thinking about faith. And of course fresh coffee, pastries and papers are ready  from 10am
The service starts itself at 10.30 and we look forward to seeing you if you can make it.

The Christmas lights have been switched on in town and the odd house is starting to glow with fairy lights so it is about time we tell you about our Christmas events. As ever, we have a mix of services aimed at the kids, the more traditional Christmas services and places of stillness at this busy time of year.

The list below shows that there is plenty happening and we would love to see you at one or all of our events to share with us in celebrating Christmas. If we can help in anyway then contact us at

It is the last breathe of 2013 this coming sunday St Ives Methodist church.

At this time of advent we will be exploring the idea of wonder, what is it to wonder, to have wonder, be wonderful.
We will reflect on the wonder of the Christmas story and how the moment when eternity was touched by God can help us live differently.
The time will be spent in quietness, we will be using images and music, silence and conversation. So if you need a bit of space from the this hectic time of year please come and join us.
We will end the evening as we always do with tea, coffee and some cake.
We meet in the hall at the back of the church so if you haven’t been before please use the side entrance doors and walk straight ahead when you come in.
