We just wanted to let you know (incase you haven’t heard already) about an event called the Big Lunch that St Ives Meths are running on the 31st May down by the river on The Waits.

The Big Lunch is an idea that comes from the Eden Project in Cornwall and it is all about getting local communities together to celebrate who we are. In our busy lives we all mean to get to know our neighbour or the places we live but often just don’t get round to it. So we are hoping that as many people in St Ives will come along to Waits, bring a picnic and enjoy time spent with other people from the town.

The Big Lunch is all part of St Ives Methodist Church is celebrating 200 years of having a building in this part of the town so we will be putting on some live music, face painting, providing free some soup, and giving way a cream teas and cupcakes for pudding!

Some local businesses have given some vouchers to give away in the free raffle, Waitrose are making a contribution, the wonderful Norris Museum is just round the corner for a visit, and some community groups will be around to share what they do.

We have a great town full of wonderful people, business and community groups that are well worth celebrating.
It all begins at 12.30 and we will finish at around 3.00pm.
We would love you to see you if you can make it as we can’t eat all the cakes on our own!
If you need anymore details or would like to help in someway please let us  know.

10th May breathe

It is time for breathe again and it would be lovely to see you if you want to join us.

If you’ve not been before breathe is a quiet reflective place for busy (sometimes stressed out and tired) people to find a moment to be still and think about what is important. We use plenty silence, peaceful music- listened to or sung, video and image, all based around the stories of Jesus and the community that his life has shaped.

This month we will be turning out thoughts to the idea of gift- the gift God gives to us and how we best receive it.

It all happens in the hall of St Ives Methodist church, so please use the side entrance to the church as the front door is locked. It starts at 7.30pm and last about an hour and there is plenty of tea, coffee and cake afterwards if you can stay.

We hope to see you but if not have a good time wherever you are spending Sunday evening.
