Nativity reverse side with bleed

There’s plenty happening at St Ives Meths this advent and Christmas. We would love to welcome you to one or all of the things that are happening!

We start with remembering our loved ones no longer with us who we can miss so much at Christmas time at our Remembering service on 7th December.

We have our 200th Anniversary as a church on the 13th December when our District Chair Rev Julian Pursehouse will lead our celebrations at 10.30am. And for those of you who need some space to reflect at this busy time we have breathe in the evening from 7.30pm.

Sing some carols in the magical setting of the Norris Museum quad on 14th December. Come and make a Christingle at cafe on 20th December or really get Christmas mood at our candlelit carol service.

And of course we will have our Christmas eve Nativity- with puppets, crafts and straw bales from 4pm. And of course on Christmas day itself we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus in a short family friendly service at 10am!

If you want to know more than let us know we would love to help!

cafe church this Sunday

We just wanted to let you know that it is cafe church this coming Sunday and we would to see you if you can make it.

As usually, the service begins at 10.30am but don’t worry if you are running late won’t be the only one. The coffee will be flowing and pastries on the table from 10am so come as soon as you can.

It will soon be the church’s 200th birthday and it seems like a good idea to think about future and at cafe church we will do just that. So, our theme is all about our vision for who we are as a community at St Ives Methodist Church and who we would like to be. We want to dream dreams and think big about just what we could do as a church! So please bring you ideas, think what it is you love about the church, and what you might like you change! Don’t feel you haven’t got anything to say, actually every person’s views are an insight that we want to hear, whether you have been in the church 200 years or just a few weeks. And, don’t panic it will still be in a cafe style with plenty of talking round tables and activities to do!

And finally, we are putting together a display of the 200 faces of St Ives Methodist from the youngest to the oldest- so if you fancied let us have picture of you which we could put in it we would be really grateful. If it is easier then you could always email us one and we can print it for you.

Hope to see you Sunday but if you can’t make it let us know if we can help.

8th November breathe

It is breathe this Sunday evening in the hall starting at 7.30pm.

Our time together will have plenty of time to think, silence to contemplate, rituals to guide us, scripture readings and simple chant. Our theme begins a series of three breathe services over the next three months  ‘ancient’, ’modern’ and ’future’.  This month we will reflect upon the ancient faith that has made its way to us over the centuries- how it began long ago and has it transformed others through its journey to us.
Amazingly, one of our elements this month will be the loan of some ancient Roman and pre-historic items from the Norris Museum which we will use to reflect upon our place in an old old story.
breathe lasts about an hour and there will be plenty of drinks and cake at the end if you are able to stay afterwards for a few minutes.
