Nativity reverse side with bleed

There’s plenty happening at St Ives Meths this advent and Christmas. We would love to welcome you to one or all of the things that are happening!

We start with remembering our loved ones no longer with us who we can miss so much at Christmas time at our Remembering service on 7th December.

We have our 200th Anniversary as a church on the 13th December when our District Chair Rev Julian Pursehouse will lead our celebrations at 10.30am. And for those of you who need some space to reflect at this busy time we have breathe in the evening from 7.30pm.

Sing some carols in the magical setting of the Norris Museum quad on 14th December. Come and make a Christingle at cafe on 20th December or really get Christmas mood at our candlelit carol service.

And of course we will have our Christmas eve Nativity- with puppets, crafts and straw bales from 4pm. And of course on Christmas day itself we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus in a short family friendly service at 10am!

If you want to know more than let us know we would love to help!

8th March breathe

breathe is happening at St Ives Methodist Church this Sunday evening at 7.30pm.
The time of year we find ourselves in is Lent, a time of simplicity and contemplation on what is important. So the theme this month is ‘remain’. We will be asking questions of our of world accumulation and consumption, pondering what is important for us to take hold of in a life of busyness and lack of time, stress and demand- and perhaps what can we let go so that what is important might flourish.
If you are not familiar with what happens at breathe our time spent reflecting on passages from the bible, taking images and video, sharing in silence and music as we make a space to consider how life and faith can better make sense for us.
It would be lovely to see you if you can make it and if you have have the time stay for cake and coffee at the end!

Its not long now until one of the highlights of the year for St Ives Methodist Church. Yes, that’s right its our Christmas Eve Nativity for Children. This year we are being told the amazing Christmas story from the perspective of the animals who first saw the baby Jesus with special help of an angel and a donkey. The church will be transformed from straight rows of chair to a stable full of straw bales and crafts for the children.

The nativity starts at 4pm, it will last for about an hour and is absolutely free! If you need for information please email or call 01480 462293

We can’t wait to see you and start your Christmas celebrations.

The Christmas lights have been switched on in town and the odd house is starting to glow with fairy lights so it is about time we tell you about our Christmas events. As ever, we have a mix of services aimed at the kids, the more traditional Christmas services and places of stillness at this busy time of year.

The list below shows that there is plenty happening and we would love to see you at one or all of our events to share with us in celebrating Christmas. If we can help in anyway then contact us at

4pm Christmas Eve, we’ll be dishing out the warm fruit punch and picking the straw off our jumpers as we get ready for another nativity for the kids. This year, we can announce that the 3 kings will be stopping by to tell their stories! It’s not easy to get that calibre of Christmas celebrity, but we managed it!

Children are invited to come dressed as a character from the story. Shepherds, kings, angels, donkeys, sheep, are all welcome!

See you there!
